I’m So Busy. Why Should I keep Spending Money On Marketing?
It’s often tempting to stop your marketing when business is booming, but it isn’t the best idea. In some cases, this can work, but it also means that you lose out on potential clients. Do you still think what’s the point if I’m really busy?
The best answer to that is businesses’ ebb and flow. You may be crazy busy now, but it can slow down fast and at any point in the future. Clients move, change living situations and change careers. They generally won’t stay forever.
Marketing Is Crucial
We all know that marketing your business is crucial, even in the most successful periods. This blog will explore why it’s necessary to keep up with marketing and promotion all the time for your business to stay relevant.
People are slammed with advertisements everywhere they look. This is why repetition is key for marketing and advertising. The more often they see or hear about your brand, the more likely it will be that they’ll remember it and recall it when needed.
For example, think about what you remember when you see the “Jolly Green Giant” or the talking “Gecko.” What do you remember when you hear the jingle “Give me a break with a ….” and a really well-known one is “Like a good neighbor …. is there.”
All of these campaigns are long-lasting from big corporations that have the money to have jingles and characters designed. But smaller businesses generally don’t have that kind of marketing budget so they need to use consistency to stay fresh in the minds of consumers.
Extremely Busy – Marketing is Crucial Still
When sales and appointments are bountiful it can be challenging to keep up with the work. You’re either spending all day dealing with orders or working in the field, and as a business owner, you have a long list of other things to handle in the business directly.
When we’re juggling multiple different tasks and sometimes get reminded of them after they’ve been lost in a pile of work, it’s easy to feel stressed, tired and like you’re not making progress. But this is also a time to grow your business.
If customers want what you sell or your service, but you can’t get it to them because you don’t have the production capacity or your booking schedules are too full, they will quickly turn to another provider. Growing your team will help keep more customers happy. More happy customers lead to more great word-of-mouth referrals.
It is fabulous to have excellent referrals from your customers. But if you are solely relying on referrals it can be risky and another reason marketing is crucial. People are inherently unpredictable and referrals are no exception. And if these referrals are strictly from a vendor you have, that can be even more dangerous. Why? Because what if they close or sell their business? Where does that put your company?
But you probably are thinking that the economy is sliding down and customers are more hesitant to buy. It’s going to cause my business to slow down. If you have done a good job marketing, and keeping it consistent, then the people that do have the money will remember your business and call.
The final reason to keep your marketing steady is simple. Financially it is always much easier to spend the money on marketing when you are busy and the budget for it is very available. If you keep this going, you may find you don’t run into those times when the budget is too tight.
All businesses realize that these slower times are the times that painfully make marketing crucial. So get your marketing in place now. Give Boomerang Social a call to help you set up a marketing plan and put it into action.
